About my experience
As a freshman in high school I fell in love with light design. I had a technical theatre class and the teacher put on a little light show for us. I remember sitting in class thinking "Woah I wish I could do that one day." Soon tech was my thing. It was my life and my identity. It was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
At age 15 I got a job at The Flagler Auditorium as a stagehand. The Flagler Auditorium is a 1200 perfessional auditorium that brings in 15-20 tourng bands per year. There I learned all the basics to production: signal flow, analog mixers, digital mixers (Allen & Heath boards), cable types, how to solder cables, how to wire basic electrical, microphone types, how to set up instrument set ups, how to set up a stage for a show, how to design a lighting plot, how to operate lighting boards(ETC ION), etc.
At the auditorium I worked along side the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director to help with all shows. If that was a touring band with a semi loading in or a school board meeting. After putting in my time at the auditorium I was given the opportunity to do lights for some of the bands they had come in and was trusted by the TD so he could have nights off and me and the ATD worked shows. At the auditorium I worked over 150 shows.
Along with The Flagler Auditorium I was also hired by The Flagler Playhouse. There I helped directors set up lighitng plot and deisgn shows.
Getting hired at Parkview Church. I was hired by Parkview at age 18 as a freelance lighting designer. After being hired I proved my worth and soon got hired as Assistant Technical Director. There I worked along side with the Technical director to make all services and events happen. As Assistant Technical Director it was also my job to maintain the Next Gen Center and Broadcast. Everything that happened on the Next Gen Center stage I was responsible for the production. Each week I lead a team to unsure all services and events went smoothly and with excellence and lead the team and called the shots for the Weekend Live Stream. As Assistant Technical Director I learned many skills like: Protool, Ableton, Logic, Dante, Midi Configuation, Waves Sound Grid, Onyx Lighting, Propresenter, Shure Wireless Workbench, Playback, Resi, Planning Center, Black Magic Switchers, Companion Configuration, and leading multiple teams.
After being Assistant Technical Director for 2 year I was promoted to Associate Technical Director. As Assocaite Technical Director it is my job to help lead the weekend production team, mix front of house for all weekend services, upcoming Ormond Beach Campus Production Lead, live stream post production, thumbnail creation, maintain tech equipment, organize and clean AVL storage, and keep most Assistant Technical Director Responsibilities.
